Traveling Italy car question?

Postby alder » Tue Apr 19, 2011 3:30 pm

So in April of next year...my parents and I are leaving on a two week trip to Italy. We are stopping in Venice, train to florence, train to rome...and then I was hoping to drive to Positano. Are there any car companies that let you drive a car from rome to positano and drop it off there or near there? If so, how long would it take to get there?

All hire companies will let you return the car to a different place for a fee. To choose a company, do a search for Car hire Rome and compare prices. It's much cheaper if you book before coming to Italy. All reputable companies are as good, or as bad, as each other.

Most car rental companies will let you rent the car in one place and return it to another place, sometimes for a small fee. Rome to Positano is about 270 km on the highway (about 3h 20min drive). However, I suggest you take the coastal road and stop here and there to have a look at the surroundings.

Avis and Hertz would do that no problem, for a small supplement.
