Best way from Siena to Rome?

Postby athdara » Thu Sep 09, 2010 4:49 am

During my trip, I was planning on spending 2 night in Florence, taking the bus to Siena, spending the night, then hopping a train to Rome. I can't seem to find trains from Siena to Rome. Are there any, or should I only day trip to Siena and leave from Florence?

Take the train from Siena to Chiusi or Florence and change to a train for Rome. There are a couple of trains per hour from Siena; the total travel time will be about 3 hours to 4 hours 40 min and cost of 12.90 to 46 euro 2nd class depending on the specific trains you take. The regional trains are slower and cheaper. The Eurostar trains are the fastest and most expensive. Usually, the schedule changes aren't huge, so you can get an idea of what's available by putting in a date before 8 Dec.

You can check specific schedules and prices at the Italian train web site: http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html However, the winter schedule goes into effect on the 9th of December and is not available on the website yet.

Forget the train, it would take you forever and cost a fortune. Why not consider a low cost direct bus instead? It's as cheap as 5 Euros (one way) and you can buy your virtual ticket online from http://www.sena.it
