Hotel in Florence

Postby Walterback » Thu Feb 26, 2009 6:37 pm

I just wanted to share a quick experience I had last summer with hotels in Florence. It is very easy to get kinda ripped off in Florence especially by small hotels. During the peak season everything was so full that we had to reserve at the Hotel Raffaello. Now that must have been a one star although showcased three nice stars at the entrance. I guess stars in Florence have not been reviewed in a long time. The hotel is old, cheap, dirty and the service desk arrogant, not to mention that the price is not the cheapest (as one would expect). An advice, stay away from hotel Michelangelo in Florence, Tuscany, and book in advance if you are going to be there during the high season (mid June, beginning of September).

Thanks for sharing this Walterback, and welcome to the forum on Tuscany!

Yes I agree, some hotels in Florence need to be avoided, and your advice to book early for the peak season is a good one. Thanks!

Totally agree! Man I was in Florence and got a pretty bad service at the Pancioli Majestic hotel...it supposedly is a 4 star, but it deserves minus ten stars! It reeks, it's dirty, water is intermittent, service non-existent, broken curtains, the rug was stained and smelly, mosquitoes in the (DIRTY!!) bathroom, smoke smell on "clean" towels...and I could go on..just stay away from the Pancioli that has nothing of majestic but the name. If I think of it I still shiver.
